As Manager of People Operations, you will play a key role in building our teams as we scale, and in creating and leading programs that make Second Genome a great place to work.

The Manager of People Operations will report to the Executive Vice President of Human Resources, with whom you will collaborate on assessing and acquiring talent; ensuring a seamless, people-centric onboarding process; and organizing exciting and meaningful experiences for the team. This role also will collect and maintain critical HR data and managing our competitive benefits programs. We are seeking a personable, charismatic leader who can proactively work with all teams and individuals across the company. The right person for this role has the passion and skills for building dynamic culture and team environments, but also has a keenness for details and processes. Successful candidates will have a background in Human Resources, Marketing/Branding, Internal Communications or Event Planning, as all of these competencies will come into play.

Responsibilities:

  • Help create and support a culture that is transparent, empowering, high achieving and positive.
  • Take ownership of new employee orientation and the on-boarding process.
  • Handle internal communications and marketing of employee programs so employees always feel in the loop.
  • Initiate and manage event planning throughout the year.
  • Ensure compliance to California and federal laws.
  • Submit company data for the Best Places to Work award and other external company recognition awards.
  • Develop and implement on-site programs that build employee camaraderie.
  • Maintain and update the HR database system and organizational chart.
  • Manage job postings, the interview process and applicant tracking system.
  • Manage employee benefits, including open enrollment, new employee enrollment, plan changes and answering questions.
  • Plan team-building and culture-building events.
  • Manage and enhance Second Genome’s wellness program.
  • Maintain the company’s holiday schedule and pertinent communications to the team.
  • Build, enhance and grow Second Genome’s culture throughout all levels of the organization.

  • A savvy tech user: You are fluent in Google applications (Gmail, Calendar, Docs and the entire Google apps suite), and are familiar using Apple products and Microsoft Office suite. You’re a quick learner who readily picks up new technology skills.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of people operations, event management or office management experience.
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Experience using HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
  • Experience planning and producing events is preferred.
  • Excellent employer branding and marketing skills.
